Oral Examinations
Ideally, you should have regular oral exams twice a year. This gives your dentist the chance to identify any oral health issues that may be developing and create a plan to treat them promptly.
During your exam, your dentist will take a close look at the health of your teeth, gums, jaw and bite. Exams may also include dental X-rays, an oral cancer screening, and other diagnostic procedures.
Oral Cancer Screening
During your exam, your dentist will use an oral cancer screening device to check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer. The signs can be difficult to detect with the naked eye, so it's important your dentist use this opportunity to examine you using this technology.
Oral Health Care at Home
Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time, and floss at least once a day to keep your smile healthy between dental appointments.
Dental Hygiene Cleaning
During your regular appointment, your hygienist will perform a deep cleaning of your teeth and gums to prevent and treat dental disease.
They will use the Woodpecker system to remove any plaque and tartar build-up. This system is also effective for removing some stains from your teeth as well as harmful biofilm which is a bacteria buildup that can inflame your gums leading to gingivitis and gum disease. To complete your cleaning, your hygienist will thoroughly floss your teeth and gums.
Fluoride Treatment
Your dentist may recommend a fluoride treatment if you are at high risk of tooth decay. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help to rebuild your tooth enamel and can even reverse tooth decay.
Dental Care With Prevora®
Our dental office has been certified to use Prevora anti-bacterial tooth coating.
